Qiantang River, the largest river in the territory, is also known as Zhejiang because of its tortuous flow. The province is called “Zhejiang” for short. Zhejiang Province has a total area of 1055,000 square kilometers.
Zhejiang Province is inclined from southwest to northeast with complex topography. The mountains are roughly parallel from southwest to northeast. It spans eight major river systems, including Qiantang River, Oujiang River, Lingjiang River, Tuixi River, Yongjiang River, Feiyun River, Aojiang River and Cao’e River. It consists of plains, hills, basins, mountains and islands. Zhejiang Province is located in the middle of subtropical zone and has a monsoon humid climate.
